Welcome back!
Bestselling author Elizabeth Pantley of The No-Cry Sleep Solution joined me for a tell-all show about solving sleep problems on The Mommy-Muse Is In: Empowering Your Journey into Motherhood. Our time together was primarily focused on solving nighttime sleep issues because Elizabeth’s new book wasn’t out yet….until now.
Before I tell you about her latest offering, I have to admit that I had completely given up on naps for my 3 year old about a year ago. That’s right. By the age of 2, my littlest one decided naps were not for her, and I went with it. Outside of the occasional car-seat nap during a long ride, I was pretty much guaranteed that she (and therefore “we“) would be completely cranky and burned out by evening. I honestly didn’t know what to do until The No-Cry Nap Solution: Guaranteed Gentle Ways to Solve All Your Naptime Problems arrived on my doorstep.
I was dubious that anything could change our nap-free pattern, but today my hope has returned. Elizabeth Pantley has wisely constructed a practical plan to encourage even the most nap-resistant child (read: mine) to have healthy daytime rest. Working with over 200 “Test Mommies and Daddies” from all walks of life in countries around the world, she was able to ensure that her nap-time strategies will be effective with any family who chooses to use them.
Filled with empowering information, The No-Cry Nap Solution is sure to be your trusted guide whether you are helping your newborn establish a regular nap pattern, assisting your toddler in adjusting their nap schedule as they grow, to teaching a preschooler who has been on strike for a year how to nap again.
Elizabeth Pantley, in her compassionate, down-to-earth style, shares information about why naps are a special form of magic!
· Naps are essential for healthy growth and brain development.
· Naps can help your child feel better with less fussiness, whining and tantrums.
· Naps can function as a “mistake eraser,” filling gaps from inadequate nighttime sleep.
· Naps allow both babies and children to learn faster, increasing attention spans and their ability to absorb new information. Did you know that some researchers think more than 20% of children diagnosed with ADHD may be dealing with sleep disorders as a root cause?
· Naps allow parents and other caregivers a chance to regroup and reenergize themselves!
I encourage you to pick up your own copy of The No-Cry Nap Solution: Guaranteed Gentle Ways to Solve All Your Naptime Problems and join me in the journey to effectively addressing our children’s sleep issues. As Elizabeth Pantley writes, “Even fervent nonnappers can learn to embrace the idea of naps and enjoy the many physical, emotional, and social benefits that they bring.” I will keep you posted on the progress we’re making at my home, and look forward to hearing about your process as well!

I am a huge advocate for nap time! My rule is you nap until you start Kindergarten. If they don’t want to sleep that is okay with me, but it is quiet time! I need that time and so do they. I encourage my two year old to take books or a small toy to bed and that helps him realize I’m not forcing him to sleep. After about 10 minutes he’s out
I am so with you on this! Even my 3 year old is starting to take naps again thanks to mandatory “Quiet Times.”
I am so thankful for Elizabeth Pantley’s common sense solutions which take into account the need to help a child settle. She is really on target!
