Welcome back!
I’d been concerned for years about the “obvious” choking hazard of a common safety precaution – the outlet safety plugs so prevalent in my home.
I am happy to report that now we have a better option.
George DeCells’ daughter, Sage, choked on a standard outlet cover when she was just one year old. After saving his daughter’s life, he knew something had to be done. George called the producers of these devices and asked them to change their plugs a larger size. They responded by telling him that if he thought it was such a problem, HE should do something about it.
He became inspired with a life saving idea when his daughter handed him a pacifier. After researching US pacifier regulations, he discovered that pacifiers must be made larger than 1 3/4 inches in greatest diameter and contain at least two (2) ventilation holes. Based on this information, George came up with an outlet design large enough to eliminate the possibility of choking, with pacifier inspired air-holes as an extra precaution. He invented SafetyCaps.
George manufactures these devices in the USA, with quality plastic, employing U.S. Citizens. They cost a few pennies more than their less safe, Chinese made counterparts, but I believe they are well worth it!
If you’re curious whether these are really the best option on the market, know that SafetyCaps won the coveted National Parenting Centers Seal of Approval, The New Parents Guide Seal of Approval, Mr. Dad Seal of Recognition, and The Baby Planners Seal of Approval.
Read what George has to say about his invention:
“SafetyCaps are the World’s only oversized, ventilated outlet safety plug designed to eliminate suffocation. Yes, I said suffocation. You see, my daughter Sage found a standard sized outlet safety plug, stuck the device into her mouth and nearly suffocated. Can you believe it, they sold me a device to protect my child that nearly suffocated her! Do you have a standard sized plug in your house? Look at it closely. Tell me that it is not a choke plug! With their rounded edge, they lodge into the throat; block the passage of air and the body tightens itself around the plug. That is the reason why I invented SafetyCaps.
My SafetyCaps measure 2 1/4 inches in greatest diameter and contain two (2) ventilation holes located no closer than .2 inches and larger than .2 inches in diameter. Why? I don’t want another child to go through what my daughter did.”
To recap (pun intended!), SafetyCaps present ZERO choking hazard, are made in the USA, are affordable, blend in perfectly to minimize your child’s curiosity factor, and are large enough for Daddy hands to grip. That’s everything I need to know. SafetyCaps are my choice now.
