I've yelled and hissed my way through all 7 Harry Potters at bed-time, which we loved. It doesn't quite cut the mustard for him to read (struggling): 'Tom the chicken pecks eagerly at the ground'. The trouble is, a key solution -- spelling -- is apparently also "boring". So we go through the whole "Darling, the reason we do this is so one day you'll be able to..." Yawnnnn! Yay! Bring on a fast, PAINLESS and...dare I say fun?...way to do spelling!
