On the Essential Value of Friendship

by mmuse on July 16, 2009

Welcome back!

heartWe are surrounded by people, enmeshed in relationships, but so often lonely.  I write in The Essential Mommy-Muse.com Toolkit about the healing capacity of connection with other human beings.  It is true that just being connected can create miraculous physiological shifts in our bodies and bring peace to our minds.  We are hard-wired from birth to seek out companionship wherever we can find it, and naturally form groups of family and friends to satisfy this instinct.  So what is it that’s missing?

I think it is true friendship, that gift that we are blessed to be part of once in a long while.  Being seen and embraced for who we really are can make all the difference in our lives.  There is nothing on Earth I value more highly than making a genuine connection with another human being while holding each other in unconditional positive regard.

Having  just navigated a major move (and survived two weeks without internet!), I am sending a heartfelt thank you to each precious person whose friendship has transformed my life.  My life is joyful and my days are brighter because of you.  May you know the difference you make just by being in the world.

With Gratitude and Great Love,

Christy

Thank YOU, Christy, for being an amazing friend, an inspiring mama and, now, a NEIGHBOR! I’m so glad you’ve moved here!

Thanks for always having a sandbox I can play in, and thanks for playing in mine.

Now, let’s go take over the world!
