It drives me CRAZY when people get postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis mixed up in the news. Women with postpartum depression DO NOT EAT THEIR YOUNG!!!
People, there is a HUGE difference, and we have GOT to get it straight.
Yes, PPD and PPP are both on the postpartum mood disorder spectrum, but we do struggling new mothers a disservice when we classify women with any postpartum mood disorder into the “psycho” bracket. Uninformed media coverage can have the opposite effect of what we want, and actually prevent mothers from seeking help out of fear they will be seen as “one of those crazy moms.” Please read up and spread the word. All postpartum mood disorders ARE treatable, and help is available now.
